FOCUS VERSE

John 15:5 (NKJV)

"I am the vine; you are the branches.

He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruitfor without Me you can do nothing

Fruit

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Against such there is no law.

In Context

John 15:1-8

The True Vine

1) “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

 2) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

3) You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

4) Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

5) “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

6) If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

7) If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

8)  By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Excellent Reading by Bruce Wilkinson

Dear Reader,

Abundance - that beautiful overflow of true worth in a person's life - exactly what you and I were born for. No wonder we so deeply desire it! Yet millions of Christians settle for less because they misunderstand and resist God's ways of bringing it about.

In The Prayer of Jabez, I showed readers how to ask for a life of abundant impact and significance for God. In Secrets of the Vine, I want to show youhow God works in Your life to answer that prayer - and what you cand do to cooperate with Him to make it happen. You'll be surprised to discover how much God wants abundance for you. And you'll be relieved to know that you never need to misread His ways in your life again.

That's why I invite you to read this little book with an open heart and great hope.

Sincerely,

Bruce Wilkinson

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS

BEARING FRUIT

Psalm 92:14-15

14) They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing,

15) To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him

Matthew 13:22-23

22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

Colossians 1:9-14

Preeminence of Christ

9) For this reason, we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding

10) that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11) strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

12) giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

13) He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

14) in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

TRUTH IN ACTION

TRUTH:

Cultivating Dynamic Devotion

Obeying Jesus is evidence that we love Him and are His disciples. Our obedience is vital to holy living. The Holy Spirit teaches us and gives us understanding of the Scriptures, enabling us to obey the Lord.

ACTION:

REJECT independence from God. NURTURE an increasingly deepened relationship with Jesus Christ

TRUTH IN ACTION

TRUTH:

Living the Christ-in-You Life

The Gospel of John is uniquely structured around seven "I am" sayings. Most of these sayings are linked to a miracle that brings further revelation of the truth through the manifestation of the Spirit. We are to know Jesus in spirit and in truth. To walk in faith, we must know the truth of who Jesus is and experience by the Spirit the reality of that truth. It is vital that our faith be more than just head knowledge, but that our hearts and lives are affected by that truth. Faith is not static but dynamic.

ACTION:

ABIDE in Jesus, the True Vine. REMAIN in Him staying continually present with Him. Then you will experience growth, maturity, and productivity for the kingdom of God.

Fruitfulness Is Fun!

John 15:1-16

Jesus taught His staff how to be frutiful so that their joy might be full (John 15:11). In other words, frutifulness is fun! There is great joy in gaining the results God desires.

Jesus said that he chose us and appointed us in order to go and bear fruit (John 15:16). As leaders, our goal is not only to bear fruit, but to help others do the same. We must be more than faithful, we must be frutiful.

We have great potential for fruitful leadership because our...

1. Source (v. 1)

Jesus is the true Vine. If we stay connected to Him, we naturally bear fruit.

2. Care (v. 1)

Our Heavenly Father is the Vinedresser. He owns us and cares for us.

3. Pruning (v. 2)

God removes anything that hinders our usefulness. He trims our weaknesses.

4. Partnership (v. 4)

Our job isn't to artificially push fruit out, but to stay connected to the Vine.

5. Promise (v. 7)

If we let His word abide us, He promises He will do what we ask.

6. Purpose (v. 8)

God created us to glorify Him by bearing much fruit.

7.) Obedience (v. 10)

Jesus gives only one condition to all this: We  must obey God. We are to remain in Him, receive from Him, and reproduce for Him.

Our Lord, the beauty of our Lord and His Righteousness - these are our priestly garments. Without that clothing we have no priestly rights, powers or virtues whatsover. It is just another illustraiton of "Without Me you can do nothing" be nothing too.

Women of Destiny Bible

Pastor Bill Johnson

God invtes us into the courts of Heaven to dialogue with Him about what is to happen on planet Earth, the place He has given to us to steward (see Psalm 115:16). This is not a little matter. Somewhere in that equation is the free will of man merging with the dreams of God. In some ways, this is the essence of beauty - brilliance of the creator seen in the co-laboring functionality of those made in His image. It is by this fulfilment of purpose and design that God is glorified.

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorifed by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples (John 15:7-8).

The fruit mentioned in this passsage is answer to prayer. And it is the fulfilment of those desires that brings God the greatest glory and becomes evidence of our relationship with God - and so prove to be My disciples.

The Way Of LIfe

It was in the context of friendship with God (see John 15:15) that Jesus stated four times in three chapters that we could ask for whatever we wanted and it would be done for us (see John 14:13; 15:7; 15:16; 16:23-24.) In light of that, I remind you that He always reserves the right to say no to any prayer that undermines our purpose. We know that God did not invite us to become self-centered Christians who demand our own way before the Almighty God. This isn't an invitation into selfishness. Instead, its an invitation to co-labor with the Lord, once again through prayer.

The Way Of Life

Putting the Word to work

Have you ever seen fruit grow apart from the vine, tree, or plant to which it was attached? Of course not! As a disciple of Jesus, the same is true for you. Unless you stay in His presence, you will not grow or bear fruit. The word abide means "to dwell; to take up residence." Allow Jesus to take up residence in your life. Just as the vine is the source of nourishment and wealth for the fruit, Jesus is your source of life. Cultivate an ever-growing relationship with Him by spending time with Him in prayer, reading, and studying God's Word.

Life point

John 15:1-8 tells us that God prunes us and cuts away things that no longer bear the kind of fruit He desires us to show, "cutting away" is often painful and not immediately understood, but it is necessary for us to grow into the fruit bearing believers of Jesus Christ that He wants us to be. We need to understand that God is progressive, and sometimes He needs to prune us as He leads us to higher places.

I live in VICTORY because Jesus

and His word abides in Me,

John 15: 7-8

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father will be glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Jesus Empowers Supernatural Ministry

Jesus promised signs would follow believers and they would do even greater works than He did. Miracles did not stop with Jesus and the apostles. Because of this, we owe the world an opportunity to experience the power of God and an invitation to salvation becuse Jesus sent us into the world, just as the Father sent Him, with the power of the Holy Spirit. Nothing is impossible with God. We do not pursue a relationship with God just so we can perform signs and wonders. The Holy Spirit gives every believer the supernatural power to witness and release miracles, signs, and wonders, and it is our responsibility to represent the heart of the Father as well. Therefore, no person or situationis beyond His ability to bring complete restoration. We believe all can be healed because Jesus demonstrated the Father's will in healing all the sick and demonized He encountered. Above all, love should be our motivation when we take risks to relaease the power of God's kingdom in to the lives of others.

The Message of the Kingdom

The first call of the kingdom is to repentance. The implications of biblical repentance are threefold:

  1.  Renucitation and Reversal
  2. Submission and Teachability
  3. Continual Shapeability

There is no birth into the kingdom without hearing the call to salvation, renoucing one's sin, and turning from sin toward Christ the Savior (Acts 3:19).

There is no growth in the kingdom without obedience to Jesus' commandments and childlike reponsiveness as a disciple of Jesus, yielding to the teaching of God's Word (James 1:21-25).

There is no lifelong increase of fruit as a citzen of the kingdom without a willingness to accept the Holy Spirit's correction and guidance (Ephesians 4:30)

If you would like to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, say and mean the simple prayer below and you will be saved.

Lord Jesus,

I know that I am a sinner. I have broken Your commandments and fallen short of Your standards. Right now I turn from that sin and ask You to come into my life. Be my Lord, Savior, friend, and God. I put my faith in Jesus Christ, and in Him alone, to save me from my sins. Thank You for loving me and calling me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
